The BBB strongly opposes the nationwide fireworks ban set to take effect in 2026, based on a citizens’ initiative from GroenLinks/PvdA and the Party for the Animals. This proposal undermines a centuries-old tradition without a realistic plan for safe and workable alternatives. “It is symbolic politics that simply does not work in practice, while millions of people enjoy fireworks every year,” says parliamentary leader Caroline van der Plas.
